More than half a century

Over more than half a century the Wilcox Metal Finishing Group has progressively evolved from its primitive beginnings in a domestic garage.

The Wilcox Metal Finishing group of companies was originally established by S.R. Wilcox in Sandringham in 1950. It was originally intended to supply in-house support service to the Wilcox Press Shop and domestic product manufacturing facility.

In 1969, Jon WiIcox assumed responsibility for the business from his father. Significant expansion commenced almost immediately.

In 1986 Jon patented the first Cathodic E coat line for contract work in Australia.

In 1994 the operations were relocated to South Dandenong in Victoria and a second E Coat plant, a high capacity computerised Zinc Line and fully computerised Nickel/Chrome line (incorporating Copper and Duplex Nickel) were progressively established.

In 2001 control of the business passed to Jon’s wife, Jill Wilcox. Jill chairs the board of directors together with Ron Grey and Neil O’Loghlen. Currently, the facility provides multi shift and multi plant operations with guaranteed quality, reliability and on-time delivery. The installation of the third E coat line has further enhanced our service capabilities positioning Wilcox as Australia’s leading and largest supplier of Metal Finishing.
